Our client was sitting on his motorcycle waiting for the red light to turn green when suddenly he was struck at a high velocity by an automobile, causing him severe lumbar and neck injuries. Despite the serious nature of the injuries, the insurance company refused to pay the modest policy limits. Our client was injured as a passenger when another driver rear-ended the vehicle he was riding in. The at-fault driver carried only a $15,000 minimum policy, which was promptly paid. As their symptoms worsened, additional imaging revealed a serious thoracic fracture requiring surgical care. We then pursued an underinsured motorist claim and presented clear medical evidence of the severity of the injury and long-term impact. By pressing the UIM carrier, we secured an additional $485,000, bringing the total recovery to $500,000 for our client.
